Being raised on two different continents - Europe & South America - opened my eyes at a very young age to a diversity of beautiful places, cultures, customs, and cuisines.  These experiences instilled in me a strong desire to work in the travel industry, and to become fluent in several languages.

When I was a child, I would often stand behind my father's desk at the travel agency he owned in the Dominican Republic - and, a future travel agent was born!  Ever since then, I have developed a passion for the travel industry, and I have been working at it since 1971, when I moved to Boston.

I started in the travel industry in 1985, after many years in the medical field, with my last position being a medical staff coordinator. Working in that capacity, I got my first introduction to the fast-paced and detail-oriented work of scheduling flights, hotels, meetings, conferences, etc.

I've always loved traveling, and being the mother of four children makes me an expert when it comes to the needs and desires of traveling families. (Little did I know when I got my degree in psychology how it would prepare me for my daily work in the travel business!) As a member of The Travel Collaborative we have access to the resources of a much larger agency while allowing us to keep our small-agency customer service approach.

It was a new romance, and we wanted to go to Jamaica.  A friend referred us to a "very cool" travel agency in Harvard Square and that's where we headed that lucky afternoon in 1986.  The romance is still romantic, the Jamaica trip was bizzare and fun, and the agency was impressive indeed so we stuck as clients.  A few years later I went from client to agent and then to partner. Twenty plus years later, I love these people and the work!

I've been a travel agent since 1988, right after college.  But, my real career began when I joined TTC in 1998!  That's when I settled into the best working environment one could hope to have.  I focus on (and my expertise is in) corporate travel.  I truly enjoy every aspect of corporate travel -- the pace, the diversity, and especially my clients.

I started off in the travel business is 1982, working as a hotel rep for lots of small hotels in Negril, Jamaica. I would travel there several times a year – tough job, I know!  I joined The Travel Collaborative in 1998 after running my own agency with my dad for 10 years. It was the best decision I ever made! I am still able to be my own boss, but benefit from working with the best group of colleagues anywhere.

Doesn’t it seem as if the pace of business only gets faster and faster? Corporate travel is no different. I love the pace of the day-to-day planning and ongoing challenge of making everyone’s schedules sync.

Where are the “Secret Deals?”

Pauline Rose

I should have known I’d make travel my career when at 8 years old, I would call and order brochures from the Crimson Travel ads I saw on television.  It never mattered what the destination was.  Every time a new ad was on, I would order a brochure to help convince my mother to take me traveling.  She would laugh and tell me to “save my pennies”.
