I am a senior travel consultant, 30 plus years in the industry. Prior to that I was a Junior
High School teacher, smaller than my students in height and almost the same age. I had
been so young and eager for an exciting career (yes, at 20 teaching was an exciting career!), but teaching geography didn’t fulfill my travel wanderlust. Travel was in my blood, and here I have landed, still loving my career choice and still having fun traveling the world, accompanied these days by my wonderful teenage son.
I also love making and selling crafts in my spare time. A few summers ago my son and I made a Bevin’s skiff boat in one week's time. We sure learned a lot and had great fun together, but working with fiberglass in 100 degree weather made me appreciate working at my air-conditioned desk by the end of the week.
I’m aware that my work doesn’t cure the common cold or break barriers of new technology, but I genuinely love what I do and am amused when I hear the line “Travel agents still exist?” All joking aside, what I have achieved in life is realizing that I must “learn to live life as a journey, not a destination” and how to explore the world one street at a time, and then sharing those experiences with my customers.
What comes next? I am learning to blog, Facebook and Pinterest along with other social media platforms, but I still enjoy plain old phone calls or face to face conversations. All in all, I love working as both a corporate and a vacation agent, and totally enjoy going the extra mile for all my clients. I would love to be perfect 24/7, but none of us can – however if you give me a chance, I will do my best to make all your Dreams Come True, hence the name of the vacation side of my business, “Dream Come True Travel”.
